A GLIMPSE OF HER LANGUAGE AND CULTURE

This book consists of several writings based on researches done on Sabu language and her culture to help the writer learns his own language and culture. Obviously, after spending years and years of his life time, he still neither can speak the language nor understands part of that language’s culture. Despite the above point, this writing aims at helping other Sabu languagespeakers finding an easy way to learn Sabu language and her culture. Academically, this is a way of preserving this language for other future learners, for being forgotten and most of all, for the writer’s academic writing as a whole started from investigating Sabu language dialect to learning about some aspects of its culture. This writing deals with various topics as: Dimu Dialect of Sabu Language whichdescribes about the culture and the language speaking area; Raijua Dialect compound that concentrated on one of the dialects of Sabu Language from special island called Raijua; Sabu Grammatical cohesion which deals with grammatical cohesion as a means of unity formation in a discourse of Sabu language with its objective that covers reference, substitution, ellipsis, and conjunctions; Anthropomorphic metaphor which investigates the relationship of Sabu language, Sabu culture, and the conceptualisation of Sabu people; Framework for English Language Learning based on Sabunese folklore as a means for enriching lexical knowledge related to Sabunese traditional economic system; and Hengad’du hewangnga as one point of Sabu culture Sabu language and culture are still rich to be uncovered, but due to the writer’s limited capability and time, he is just be able to present small parts of them which are considered as very tiny things to be pinpointed as a whole. It is a great hope that other scientists and writers who are interested to deal with Sabu and her culture may do some contribution to this wring. This book can be used as a literature for students and researchers who are interested in learning and writing about language and culture. It is also useful and recommended for teachers of English to make language comparison and find ways to teach English for Sabu language background as well. Since it comprises Sabu and English language comparison, English language teachers can take the advantages of this writing for the sake of their English language teaching program.
